Rifkin Individual Brainstorm 9-16-2013 / Why I chose Animas
I am a visual and bodily kinesthetic learner, I learn best whenever I can have the content put in front of me to visualize I can memorize it much better as when I am just told about things I have a very hard time listening and being able to really pick up and understand the content. I believe that Animas doesn't help me in this way because most of the content is delivered via lecture or article. Sometimes I feel like I could be learning better at other schools, Animas is Different from other school because most the content that we are taught is setting up to do a big project. The environment at Animas is very different because everybody has to like each other otherwise the administration won’t let it fly. Sometimes I feel like I am being strongly pushed in subjects like physics and in other classes not so much. Some subjects are naturally easier than others as for other people too. Some teachers are cool to talk with and have a real conversation with and others you just want to get in and out of their class and be done as soon as you can. I feel what it means to be an osprey is to hide your real feelings for people that you hate and pretend to like everybody. To put the well being of the school before yourself and hide any genuine feelings of hate for dramatic and more “socially appropriate and accepting conversations to avoid any real world scenarios and make Animas an unrealistic safe environment that shelters people from the real hatred and rejection that is modern society.” But Animas is the best place for me to learn and succeed in my high school career, I wasn't truly given an option to go to any other school's, but I am mostly happy with my parents for choosing Animas.
