My senior link 2.0 internship with local musician, colton andersen
Colton Andersen is a local musician in Durango, CO, who agreed to mentor me throughout the past semester. Colton has had success recording and performing in Durango with his original music and I saw an opportunity to have him mentor me throughout my senior project which included my own original music. During my internship throughout the past semester with Colton I created a 5 song instrumental EP that contained music that is positive for brain stimulation based on the research that I did when writing my senior thesis.

- Strengths/weaknesses discovered through the internship
Throughout this internship I discovered that I have a strength in physically composing music with several different instruments. With that being said, I discovered the inverse side of that strength by uncovering the weakness of the behind the scenes work that really goes into producing original music. Things like writing, recording, mixing, mastering, and sound tweaking. As much as I wish music was as simple as just sitting down and composing, I found it to be much harder. - Accomplishments you are proud of
I am very proud of the fact that I was able to create my own original EP that turned out to look and sound beautiful within the span of a few months. Especially since it was all done from homemade recording studios and mixed from our own personal computers. I was worried that I would not have enough time, but the opportunity to conduct a senior internship amidst the busy time of my senior project, I was able to accomplish something that I can truly be proud of.- Challenges you encountered and how you responded
When I was working on this project, I encountered a few obstacles along the way. One of those big obstacles was about halfway through the project when my computer hard-drive malfunctioned and erased all of the content on my computer. This content contained all of the work that I had done thus far towards my goal of finishing the original EP. I had to respond to this by working basically for 2 weeks non-stop to replace the work that I had lost.
